HMRC Time to Pay

Overview

All businesses and self-employed people in financial distress, and with outstanding tax liabilities, may be eligible to receive support with their tax affairs through HMRC’s Time-To-Pay service.

This will cover PAYE, NIC, VAT and Corporation Tax bills.

These arrangements are agreed on a case-by-case basis and are tailored to individual circumstances and liabilities.

These businesses can contact HMRC’s new dedicated COVID-19 helpline for advice and support.

How to apply

HMRC Coronavirus Helpline

Due to measures put in place to stop the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) we have fewer advisers available to answer your calls.

If you are unable to pay your taxes due to Coronavirus, HMRC will discuss your specific circumstances to allow them to explore:
 
  • an instalment plan,
  • suspend debt collection proceedings,
  • cancellation of penalties and interest.
If you cannot pay your Self-Assessment tax bill

If you’ve filed your return and owe less than £10,000 you might be able to arrange to pay in instalments online.
Call the Self-Assessment helpline if you’ve missed your payment date or you cannot use the online service.
