Companies House filing extension

Available: Now

Region: UK Wide

A 3-month extension to file company accounts.

Companies must apply for an extension which will be automatically allowed.

Companies House will temporarily pause the strike off process to prevent companies being dissolved.

In addition, companies issued with a late filing penalty due to Covid-19 will have appeals treated sympathetically.
If you do not apply for an extension and your accounts have been filed late, an automatic penalty will be imposed.
Companies that have already extended their filing deadline, or shortened their accounting reference period, may not be eligible for an extension.

How to apply

If your application is based on issues around Covid-19, you’ll be automatically and immediately granted a 3 month extension.

Apply online

To apply online you’ll need:
  • your company number
  • information about why you need more time (I.e. Covid-19 issues)
