CO-OP COVID-19 Food Support Fund

HIWCF and CO-OP have launched their COVID-19 funding programme to support voluntary and community groups that run programmes relating to providing emergency food and programmes that can address food insecurity and its impacts. 

Voluntary and Community groups in the Hampshire and Isle of Wight area will be able to apply to receive grants up to £5,000. Organisations that can apply must be one of the following:

-    CIC (Community interest company)
-    Voluntary and community groups
-    Churches and other religions
-    Registered and unregistered Charities (including CIOs) 

To meet the criteria these organisations must also support one or more of the following:

-    Redistribute surplus food to those who need it most in local communities 
-    Provide easy access to nutritious food and balanced meals for those on a limited budget 
-    Help to educate and upskill on low cost meal solutions, limiting food wastage and how to food shop smartly 
-    Providing support for future generations by focusing on the wellbeing of children and young people coping with food insecurity 
-    Food programmes for vulnerable local communities, this includes emergency food and support that will affect food insecurity and its impacts 

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight community foundation have stated that if there is a large number of applications they will prioritise smaller organisations that work on the frontline within the local communities and organisations who do not have high reserves. The deadline to apply is at 12 midday on the 13th November 2020.
