Chief People Officer at Moore UK member firm Johnston Carmichael, Scotland's largest independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers.

Martin joined Johnston Carmichael in 2021. A Chartered FCIPD, Martin started his career in journalism and government communications, before building HR expertise in various senior leadership roles.

Martin is responsible for ensuring all of our people have the best possible experience working in our firm. His remit includes shaping our Employee Value Proposition, HR, Learning and Development, Recruitment and our Early Careers pathways. Amongst his achievements to date are developing a Masters-accredited leadership programme which we are rolling out to clients, and embedding our People and Culture Forum which has worked hard to help make our firm the best possible place to work.

A graduate of Durham University, Martin has completed the Moore Global Harvard Leadership Programme and is a member of the ICAS Qualifications Board. One of his proudest life achievements was climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in 2008.
