James Cross nfp Partner and VAT specialist
James deals primarily with charities, particularly membership organisations, religious charities, schools and academies. He also works with commercial clients in music publishing, property and fine art, as well as some owner-managed businesses. James is attached to our specialist VAT unit within the firm and advises his audit clients on VAT matters on a regular basis, as well as undertaking specialist VAT reviews, with a particular focus on the not-for-profit sector.
Clients appreciate Jamess in-depth understanding and the significant experience he has developed over the past 20 years working with charities. James works hard to ensure that he is easily available to meet the needs of his clients and takes care to explain issues in a way that is easily understood and appreciated. He often attends trustee meetings and audit committee meetings to present the results of our work and to act as a sounding board for clients concerns.
James qualified with a large national firm before joining Moore Kingston Smith as a manager in 1992. He is a trustee of a number of small and medium-sized charities and is also a governor at a sixth form college in Hackney.
James is a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Poulters and a member of the Lime Street Ward Club. He is a keen amateur musician, having played the organ since childhood, and is an Associate of the Royal College of Organists.
