Quiz Night Raises Funds for Local Charity

Guildford based chartered accountants Moore organised a quiz night at The Albany,  which took place on Monday, 12 October, to raise funds for local charity, the Samson Centre for MS.

16 teams comprising 80 business people from solicitors, banks, and other local organisations pitted their wits against each other at what was an excellent and fun event.  The evening included a curry, heads and tails, several rounds of quiz questions and a raffle with prizes donated by Moore, the Samson Centre for MS, and The Albany.

The Samson Centre for MS provides over 3,500 physiotherapy sessions, almost 4,000 exercise classes, over 2,500 gym sessions and approximately 2,500 oxygen therapy treatments to people who are living with multiple sclerosis in Surrey and the surrounding areas.

Funds raised from the quiz and raffle were over £1,100 and will be used to purchase a Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) unit which provides electrical stimulation to a person’s leg to help them walk better, and a training course for one of the physiotherapists to attend to be able to use the equipment.

Jackie Payne, the Centre Manager said, “The purchase of a FES will make a great difference to our members and we are very grateful to everyone who took part”.

Moore Guildford Partner, Danielle Griffin said:  “We had a tremendous evening and are delighted to have raised these funds.  Thanks to Chris Boys we saw first hand how this piece of equipment can make a huge difference to someone’s life.   I would like to thank everyone who took part for their generosity and support at this event.  Congratulations go to the winning team from Laytons who, having answered all 10 questions in the “Wipe Out” round correctly, gained an extra £100 for the charity donated from quizmaster, Dave.”
