Gemma Gibson
Gemma is an audit partner at Johnston Carmichael in Newcastle.
Gemma brings nearly 20 years of experience in the audit profession. Before joining JC, she spent more than 19 years at a Big Four firm, progressing from graduate trainee to senior audit director.
She has led audits for large and complex groups and has played a key role in supporting the growth of mid‑sized and large privately owned businesses. While her experience spans a wide range of sectors, she has particularly strong expertise in Property & Construction and Manufacturing, and she has extensive experience working with PE‑backed companies.
Gemma’s technical strengths include audit and accounts, financial reporting (covering IFRS and UK GAAP), and internal controls, including SOx compliance.
She has also supported businesses through a variety of transactions, such as AIM listings and delistings, as well as multiple acquisitions. This breadth of experience provides her with valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities facing organisations across the North East.
Outside of work, Gemma is an avid powerlifter, training four to five times a week. Away from the gym, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son.
