Glorious sunshine at the Alresford Watercress Festival helping to raise money for the Joe Glover Trust

Moore (South) LLPampton have chosen the Joe Glover Trust as their charity of the year, a charity which is close to Kate Hayne, office manager marketing support for Southampton. Throughout the year our Southampton office will continue to raise money for the charity and partake in their events where possible. Kate has written about the fantastic day at their recent fundraising event: the Alresford Watercress Festival.

It was around the middle of 2012 shortly after losing my father to Leukaemia that I started looking for a really good charity to get involved with on a regular basis in my free time. I had always volunteered and fund raised for various charities over the years, but I wanted something to really get my teeth into, a local worthwhile cause that was close to my heart and that is when I came across the Joe Glover Trust, a local children’s cancer charity. I looked at their website and made contact with Jane their Fundraising Manager and got to know the charity and volunteers and got a better understanding of the truly great work that they do, thereafter immediately became involved with the charity, which is now Moore (South) LLP Southampton office chosen charity for the coming year.

One of my first volunteering events with the trust was the Alresford Watercress Festival in 2012, which I have subsequently volunteered at every year since! It is such a fantastic day out, very family orientated, with arts, crafts, live music, dancers, locally brewed beer, home made food and produce and all celebrating the fabulous fresh watercress grown locally. The Watercress festival this year (2015) was just as glorious as the previous years, with the sun beaming down and such a great atmosphere.

The trust have been the festival's chosen charity for the last 3 years and for the previous 2, had the only fresh watercress to offer at the festival. As a volunteer, my role was to offer bags of fresh watercress in exchange for a donation to the charity. I love volunteering at the Watercress Festival each year and will continue to do so in the coming years. This year we raised a staggering £3436.75, which is an improvement on last years figure of £3313! This money will go to help the children and families suffering through cancer, to help make a real difference.
