Case Study: Internships at Moore

Moore Accountancy Intern Aaron Patel

We asked one of our recent interns to tell us more about his experiences at Moore.

Name: Aaron Patel

Course: BSc in Mathematics and Accounting and Financial Management at Loughborough University. Completed a one year internship at Moore East Midlands in 2019/20.

“Working for Moore has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience.  The team have been fantastic and very supportive – there’s always someone on hand to answer any questions you might have.

You’re given a great deal of responsibility and the work is varied and challenging. During my year at Moore, I have spent time in the tax, audit, and accounts departments working on a variety of different tasks including preparing tax returns, going out on audit at clients’ premises and preparing client accounts.  The opportunity to work across three different departments has been really valuable in helping me to decide which area of accountancy I would like to pursue after I finish my degree.

My placement has allowed me to apply the knowledge gathered from the modules in my course and given me a wider skill set which will put me in good stead when I return to university.

One of the things that surprised me about working for Moore was the social side. There have been so many social events I’ve had the chance to be a part of – from football and cricket matches and the Summer family BBQ to bowling and Escape Room nights, and I was part of the winning team in the annual Peterborough Cathedral Pancake Race!

And the best moment of my time here so far is hands down the Moore Christmas Party. To celebrate what is the most wonderful time of the year with your friends is something quite special.

I can definitely recommend an internship with Moore - it’s a brilliant environment to learn in.”
