Description:

Payroll

  • Work within a team of three to assist with the processing of weekly and monthly payrolls to strict deadlines. 
  • Learn the various compliance rules for statutory requirements and HMRC regulations

In-house training will include:

  • Run weekly and monthly payrolls on Sage 50 payroll software
  • Process starters and leavers, employee changes and statutory payments and deductions including SMP, SSP, and SPP etc
  • Deal with pay queries from clients
  • Run year end routines and reports for all payrolls
  • Administration of Auto Enrolment and pensions

Other responsibilities

  • Provide constructive feedback to line manager regarding processes and procedures
  • Accurate data entry
  • Develop soft skills for communicating with clients
  • Save all correspondence with clients in the document management system
  • Be up-to-date with the firm’s policies and procedures and comply with them at all times
  • Complete timesheets accurately on a daily basis
  • Take on any other duties appropriate as and when required
  • GDPR compliance
  • Be aware of the firm’s risk management and practice assurance procedures and ensure compliance
  • Monitor budgeted time allocated for the payroll and notify the Payroll Manager if this will go over the set timeframe.
 

Studying

  • Sage 50, on-line training,  in-house course
  • This role will include study towards the AAT accountancy qualification
  • Balance studies and working full time with generous study leave provided by the firm
 

Requirements

  • At least 5 GCSEs grade 4-9 with a 6 or above in English Language and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Competent knowledge of the Microsoft Office software particularly intermediate or advanced Excel
  • Willingness to train towards the AAT accountancy qualification
  • Ability to work well under pressure to tight deadlines whilst maintaining high level of accuracy
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to delivering a first class service to clients, and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Good customer service and communications skills, both written and verbally
  • Sound technical and analytical skills 
  • Adaptable and flexible in attitude
  • Time management skills including prioritising
  • Willingness to assist in other departments when required
  • Must be able to live and work in the UK
