Audit and Accounts Graduate Trainee

Joining as a graduate you’ll be the future of the firm. To ensure you succeed we’ll provide the training and support you need, coupled with the responsibility and autonomy to allow you to grow. Reporting to the Audit and Accounts Manager, with appropriate guidance and support, you will:
  • Draft working papers to support the preparation of accounts for sole traders and small limited companies, including:
    • Production of lead schedules to agree to accounts disclosures
    • Production and reconciliation of control accounts
    • Collation of appropriate evidence to support figures in the accounts
    • Drafting sole trader/company tax computations
    • Raising relevant and coherent queries to assist with supervisor/manager review
  • Assist with audit field work (often attending clients’ premises) including:
    • Completing statutory sections of audit file
    • Making detailed system notes
    • Journal testing
    • Preparing trial balance and identifying errors in basic accounting
    • Income and expenses testing, payroll testing, stock testing
    • Bank and cash testing
    • Assisting in preparing comprehensive working papers
  • Work with different accounting software packages including Sage, Quickbooks, Xero
  • Learn double entry and bookkeeping skills
  • Communicating with clients
  • You’ll also support other departments within the firm as and when needed.


You’ll study towards a recognised accountancy qualification either ACCA or ACA, balancing your studies and working full time with generous study leave.


Please note: you must have the right to live and work in the UK.

You’ll be a graduate with a at least a grade 2:1 in a relevant field of study (such as Accounting, Finance, Business, Chemistry, Economics, Engineering, Maths, Medicine, Physics or Statistics).

You’ll have at least three A levels at grade B or equivalent and at least five GCSEs grade 4-9 with a grade 6 or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths.

You’ll also need to have competent knowledge of Microsoft Office software.


The right candidate will be able to:

  • demonstrate excellent communications skills, both written and verbal

  • demonstrate good time management skills including prioritisation

A driving licence and access to transport is beneficial as most of our audits are conducted at the client’s premises.
