Self-Assessment filing deadline draws near

Self-Assessment filing deadline draws near

Esme Shakeshaft

Those who have still not submitted all of their self-assessment filing information will need to complete their 2019-20 tax return as soon as possible as the 31 January 2021 moves closer.

HMRC has made no announcement that this deadline will be extended. Accordingly, the initial £100 late filing penalty will apply to any 2019-20 return filed electronically after 31 January 2021.

No one needs any additional pressure at this point in time as we all grapple with the effects that COVID is having. However you will still need to be timely regarding this matter in order to keep compliant and to avoid penalties.

If you are having difficulties tracking down information, lost P60s etc, please contact your local Moore (South) office so that we can advise and assist on a strategy to secure the missing data.
